Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Gospel Reflection

God’s generosity is different from the way we usually think about fairness. In the parable, the workers who came late received the same daily wage as those who had worked from the beginning. At first, I felt that this was unfair because those who worked longer seemed to deserve more. But God does not measure according to how long we have prayed or served Him through others, how successful we are, or how much we have accomplished. God looks at each person with love and gives according to His goodness and will.

This Gospel deeply speaks to me as I discern my vocation. Sometimes, I compare my journey with others. I may think that some are more gifted, more faithful, or more advanced in their formation than I am. There are moments when I ask myself: Am I doing enough? Am I already behind? But this Gospel reminds me that a vocation is not a competition, but a journey toward completion—a chance for me to be made whole. God has a unique plan and timing for everyone; thus, humility and trust are needed.

I pray for a heart that is grateful rather than envious, faithful rather than competitive, and generous rather than judgmental. I may not always understand God’s timing, but I trust that His grace is enough.
